Eight female kickboxers will be featured is what has become one of the biggest line-ups in the female Muay Thai history.

WCK’s “Champions of Champions” will take place a the Pala Casino and Spa in Pala, CA this Saturday, and will feature four women’s title bouts. The main event will feature the long awaited match between the UK’s Julie Kitchen and California’s own Miriam Nakamoto for the WBC & WMC kickboxing titles.

Also on the card is another world class fighter from Cali, Tiffany Van Soest. She will be fighting for the IKKC World Super Bantamweight championship.

We caught up with Van Soest to talk about the historic card, and her past year.

Wombat Sports: It’s been a year since we last talked. How has it been since last summer?

Tiffany Van Soest: It’s been a wild ride! I’ve been busy training and I finally finished school. I made my pro Muay Thai debut last year, fought some formidable opponents, and have gotten some wonderful opportunities. I’m excited to see what this next year holds.

Wombat: We have been seeing more and more female Muay Thai and kickboxing fights here in the States. Do you feel this trend will continue?

Van Soest: I really hope so! MMA is great, but I think all fight fans can appreciate and enjoy a high level striking match. It’s so exciting! And to see the women coming up in the sport is great. These girls are getting better and better and making for some fierce match-ups. With more opportunities to compete and showcase those skills, the level will only continue to rise and the fights will become even more exciting.

W.S.: You have taken MMA fights before along with the kickboxing bouts. Will this continue considering the serge of support for the women’s divisions?

TVS: Absolutely! I love the different elements and variability of MMA. My main focus for the time being, is Muay Thai. I’ve set my sights on a world title, but don’t be surprised if you see me in a cage at some point!  I am a huge fan of WMMA and thanks to Shannon Knapp and Invicta FC, we (women) finally have a big stage to showcase our skills on and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

W.S.: What do you know about your opponent?

TVS: To be honest, I barely know her name! Haha! I had gone a little more than a month not knowing who my opponent was, because my original opponent Hillary Mack, had to pull out of the bout. I was informed a couple of days ago that I do have an opponent now and she’s been training in Thailand. I don’t care who it is, as long as there’s someone standing across the ring from me on fight night, I’m good and ready to give it everything I have and show the everyone that I’m a force to be reckoned with.

W.S.: This Muay Thai card is a blockbuster considering the talent involved. What does this mean to you to be involved?

TVS: This event is huge! It is an honor and a privilege to be on the same card along side some of Muay Thai’s best. It means so much to me to be a part of something so monumental. Muay Thai is a beautiful sport that doesn’t get the attention and recognition it deserves here in the U.S., and I feel this event will help it gain more popularity so to be a part of it is extremely meaningful to me.

W.S.: Anyone you’d like to thank?

TVS: Of course! So many Thank You’s! I’d like to thank my instructor Kru Alex Palma, my fam at Team Nogueira Gym, The coaches and everyone at Black House, my sparring partners, my Family and friends for the love, the fans for their support, My sponsors- 858 Fight Shop, Bas Rutten O2 Trainer, True Honor, Can’t Stop Crazy, and Guard Ya Grill.

I’m looking to add more sponsors to thank later (contact me)! Lol!

One more special thank you to anyone who’s ever doubted me, told me I’d never make anything of this, or I’m wasting my time-you just fuel the fire.
