2012 Olympic Women’s Boxing Day 1

Women’s boxing makes it’s debut Sunday as fighters from all around the world will vie for gold in three weight classes – flyweight (51 kg, 112 lbs), lightweight (60 kg, 132 lbs), & middleweight (75 kg, 165 lbs).

U.S. flyweight Marlen Esparza and middelweight Clarissa Shields received byes and will fight in the quarter finals Monday. Lightweight Queen Underwood will be in action today.

  • Alexis Pritchard (NZL) def. Rim Jouini (TUN) 15-10

Middleweight (First Round)

  • Marina Volnova (KAZ) def. Elizabeth Andiego (KEN) 20-11
  • Anna Laurell (SWE) def. Naomi-Lee Fischer-Rasmussen (AUS) 24-17
  • Li Jinzi (CHN) def. Roseli Feitosa (BRA) 19-14
