Canada’s Mary Spencer & Brazil’s Erika Mattos Receive Invites to the Olympics
Two more boxers can state they are going to London.
Canada’s Mary Spencer and Brazil’s Erika Mattos are the two latest Olympic invitees. The Tripartite committee made the announcement this week.
Spencer is a multiple time world amateur champion, having only lost 9 times in 115 bouts. She lost in the second round of the AIBA tournament at the 75 kg division.
Mattos would make it to the third round of the 51 kg tournament, losing to North Korea’s Hye Song Kim. She joins teammates Adriana Araújo (60 kg) and Roseli Feitosa (75 kg) in London.
Three spots in each category are still open for the August Olympics, with more invitations to come next week.
