Knight wins IBF Belt, Shea Gets the KO Win in Mexico


Two great female boxing matches this weekend in Mexico, as a new IBF champ is crowned and a contender for the WBO Featherweight title has made her presence known.

Ava Knight (7-1-3; 4 KOs) defeated Arley Mucino (14-1-1) to win the the IBF Flyweight world title At the Palenque de la Feria in Colima, Mexico. Knight gave Mucino’s first loss in spectacular, KO-ing her as a right hook took out Mucino at 45 second of round 2. This is Knights first world title.

In the other women’s bout on the card, Maureen Shea (18-2) defeated pro debuting Mayra Martínez (0-1) via KO at 50 seconds in the 5th round. This is Shea’s fourth straight stoppage and is looking for a title shot with WBO Featherweight champ Jeannine Garside.
