Muay Thai Premier League Begins in September; Miriam Nakamoto Out Due to Injury
MuayThaiAuthority.com is reporting that American female fighter Miriam Nakamoto is out of the Muaythai Premier League, which begin Sept. 2.
The MPL will feature teams from several different countries including the U.S., Canada, Italy, France, Great Britain, and Thailand fighting all around the world; with their first matches happening in Hollywood, CA Sept. 2. The matches will air worldwide, but an American outlet has yet to be announced.
Nakamoto had to withdrawl from the U.S. team due to a knee injury that requires surgery. It’s a disappointment to female fight fans as there would have been a match between her and England’s Julie Kitchen during the series.
Other female fighters in the league include Italy’s Chantal Ughi; France’s Angelique Pitiot; and Canada’s Sandra Bastian. It’s not known who will fill Nakamoto’s spot on the American team.
The MPL will also go behind the scenes with fighters as they train to become World Muai Thai Council and MPL champions in a docu-series called “Into the Fire”. You can see the trailer for it below featuring Nakamoto, Germaine de Randamie, and other female Muay Thai fighters.
