Alicia Ashley Becomes Oldest Female Boxing Champ by Winning Vacated WBC Super Bantamweight Title
Who says you are too old to fight? At the age of 43, Alicia Ashley has won the vacated the WBC Super Batamweight title this past Saturday in front of her hometown crowd in the Bronx, NY’s Hunt’s Point Produce Market. The win makes her the oldest champion in women’s pro boxing history.
Ashley dominated her opponent, Texan Christina Ruiz, gaining the unanimous decision victory. (Judges cards: 99-91, 98-91, 100-90). Ashley goes 17-9-1.
